ABOUT THE WORK

For my fantasy portfolio this term I've decided to explore humans and human characteristics on a general basis before going further into the idea. Most of my inspirations were from Tim Walker and Lucas Simões, but few were also from every day life. For example, how people interact with each other, how people interact with themselves, their thoughts, their appearance, their beliefs and opinions, basically humans on a wide aspect.

However, in my photography series I wanted to explore the darker side of what may seem normal in everyday life. Greed and consumption, corruption, loss of innocence, curiosity, the burning empitness we all feel within ourselves when nothing is ever enough.

The fire plays an important role in my depiction of those topics as fire is regarded as a very strong element on it's own, and just by itself, could create and cause such damage. Fire burns and eats away at things, destroying everything in it's wake. The fire is a slight metaphor for our global issues and what we make of them, whether we regard them as being important or not, and the possible impacts it could have on people and the society.
